I Was Forced to Develop Patience And Now I Know Why

I never had an instant breakthrough in my life, and I always questioned why.

The only assurance I have is that I was always frustrated and angry. Though I was experiencing those awful feelings, I accomplished many breakthroughs by God’s grace, but it was a weighty and heavy experience, never pleasant. Thank God for his victories! He starts with every good thing, and he shall complete it if we keep the faith!

BUT WHY??? Why is nothing quick, nothing fast in my life? The only fast thing I experience is fast food — maybe that’s why I order so much of it. I am groaning for something quick! (Don’t recommend it, of course; we need to stay healthy.) See how our frustrations cultivate unclean decisions in our lives, just to name a few?

I can’t summarize my life journey here, but through many challenges thrown at me — whether demonically structured, my own bad decisions, or just the imperfection that happens in this life — I was forced to develop patience through it all. I had no other choice but to go through it or fail.

Even though I am a man of prayer — a real man of prayer — this never accelerated anything but only released grace to endure until my breakthrough came. From mental health issues to confusion, chronic sicknesses and multiple surgeries due to failures, to obesity, and being stuck as my family’s caregiver… I was forced to develop patience.

Even something as silly as fixing a machine in my kitchen took years to resolve. Then I decided to buy a new one and paid for it, only to discover that my new purchase, which I had placed high hopes in for a fresh start, was broken and caused me even more headaches. Can you relate somehow, somewhere?

Finally, by God’s great mercies, I understood why the instant is not for me. Why do I have to struggle with everything, whether small or big? Because my character was fallible!

I learned that if God didn’t cultivate patience and faith in me for every blessing and promotion, I would have ruined it and caused so much trouble for myself and others. We are so weak in humility and trust. Pride can surface quickly if you get blessed without having a character to sustain you and keep you sane and in God.

If you are a believer going through it like me, whatever your case might be, rejoice because God loves you this way! He knows you better than you know yourself. He is perfect love and perfect wisdom. He wants to make you, not break you!

Now that I know this, it adds some encouragement to my journey and lessens my frustrations. Also, my celebrations and little breakthroughs for every progressive advancement empower me for more. When I look back at my life today, I can testify that Yeshua is so good and faithful, and he has completed and finalized many things in my life, even though it took time. So my challenges today are subject to hope, even though my progress is slow, because slow and steady with the blessing of the Lord is what I need. He loves me!

I want his blessings that cost him everything for me, but more than that, I want to endure in a lifetime of blessings, and this requires developing patience, humility, and trust all the way!
