EXPOSING THE SPIRIT OF LEVIATHAN: Based on Biblical Truth and Practical Keys!
Something’s twisting your conversations, stealing your peace, and tearing apart relationships—and it’s not just human misunderstanding. It’s the spirit of Leviathan. This ancient, pride-fueled enemy has one mission: to divide, distort, and destroy. But God has given you powerful keys to expose it, defeat it, and recover everything it stole. Get ready to take your authority back!
Everywhere we look today, there is conflict, tension, and confusion. Whether it’s in homes, churches, schools, governments, or entire nations, we are witnessing escalating misunderstandings, misinterpretations, and broken relationships. There is a force behind all this, and it is not random. It is the calculated work of a high-level demonic spirit: Leviathan.
Leviathan is a stealthy, wicked spirit that has been loosed to twist communication and distort understanding. Its assignment is clear: to destroy unity, divide alliances, and sever relationships. It infiltrates every area of life—personal, relational, spiritual, regional, and national. No area is off-limits.
But we are not without hope. We have a Savior who has overcome the world and every demonic power, including Leviathan. He equips us to stand, resist, and triumph.
Understanding the Enemy: What is Leviathan?
Leviathan is not just a symbol; it is a demonic principality described in the Bible. It is a:
- Fleeing Serpent (Isaiah 27:1): Moving side-to-side in communications, darting swiftly to twist meaning and create escalating offense and hurt.
- Twisted Serpent: The word “serpent” in Hebrew implies whispering spells and lies, like the enemy in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). It hisses distorted truth to tempt, accuse, and divide.
- Dragon in the Sea: Leviathan dwells in the sea of humanity—our carnal, fleshly nature. When we live by our emotions instead of our divine identity, we give it place to operate.
This spirit elongates and stretches communication until what was meant is no longer what is heard. Like the telephone game, things become more twisted the more they go around.
Example: You say something simple like, “I didn’t mean it that way,” but the other person insists, “I heard you say it!” Suddenly, feelings are hurt and walls go up. Leviathan has twisted the message.
Its ultimate goal? To break relationships, because unity releases heavenly power (Psalm 133), and division weakens the Body of Christ.
Job 41:34 reveals that Leviathan is a king over all the sons of pride. It rules through pride, offense, and selfishness. When we prioritize our opinions, rights, and feelings above love and truth, we give Leviathan a domain to rule.
Often, it doesn’t even feel like a spiritual attack. It just feels like “us” — our irritation, our frustration, our need to be right. But when we respond with offense and bitterness, we empower the enemy.
Leviathan’s Tactics and Territory
Leviathan attacks two types of spiritual territory:
- The Ground You Already Have
- Your current relationships, influence, and victories.
- The enemy tempts you to give up what you already won.
- The Ground You’re About to Enter
- Every time you advance in spiritual authority, the enemy puts up resistance.
- But fear not, God goes with you (Joshua 1:9).
Example: You finally reconcile with a family member after years, but suddenly, a small comment becomes a major offense again. That’s Leviathan trying to steal what you just gained.
Leviathan thrives in misunderstanding, offense, and pride. It wants to hijack your God-given authority and use it to tear others down instead of building them up.
Strategic Keys to Overcoming Leviathan
1. Humility
Jesus, though fully God, humbled Himself to serve. When we choose humility, we disempower Leviathan. Pride justifies offense. Humility embraces grace.
- It’s not about being right.
- It’s about responding in the right way.
- Humility removes “self” and releases love.
Example: Someone misunderstands you. Instead of defending yourself, you respond with, “I’m so sorry for how that made you feel. That wasn’t my intention.” You’ve just closed the door to Leviathan.
2. Repentance
Repentance shuts the door to Leviathan.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart.
- Repent for offense, gossip, bitterness, and pride.
- Plead the blood of Jesus over your words and reactions.
- Receive His forgiveness and be refreshed (Acts 3:19).
3. Love
Leviathan works in opposition to love. Love breaks its power.
- Love is patient and kind.
- Love is not proud, not provoked, keeps no record of wrongs.
- Love believes the best and never fails.
- Move in the opposite spirit.
Example: You feel tempted to write someone off. Instead, you choose to call them, speak blessing over them, and pray for them. Love disarms the enemy.
4. Listening and Hearing
Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry (James 1:19).
- Listen to understand, not to defend.
- Ask for clarity.
- Listening defuses Leviathan’s chaos.
5. Guard Communication
Words carry power. Watch your tongue.
- Don’t speak out of anger or hurt.
- Don’t send reactive texts or posts.
- Choose to speak life, not death (Proverbs 18:21).
Example: You feel hurt and want to send a text confronting someone, but you pause and pray instead. Later, you realize your perspective was wrong. You just blocked Leviathan.
6. Decree the Word
The Word of God is a sword.
- Decree Scripture over yourself and others.
- God’s Word cannot be twisted.
- Declare truth until the atmosphere shifts.
7. Prayer
Sometimes, the best communication is with the Lord.
- Take your hurt, frustration, and confusion to Him.
- Let Him speak peace and clarity.
- Prayer removes the fog and invites the Prince of Peace.
Example: You feel confused about what happened in a conversation. Instead of obsessing over it, you take it to the Lord and ask Him to interpret. Clarity comes.
8. Praise and Worship
God is enthroned on our praises (Psalm 22:3).
- Praise shifts the atmosphere.
- Praise dethrones Leviathan.
- Worship invites God’s victory into the battle.
9. Forgiveness
Unforgiveness is a trap of Leviathan.
- Forgiveness breaks the enemy’s hold.
- Forgive others. Forgive yourself.
- Declare healing and release.
10. Wisdom
Ask God for wisdom (James 1:5).
- Don’t act on assumption.
- Don’t react emotionally.
- Wait for clarity. Move with heaven’s direction.
11. Counsel and Advisors
Seek wise, trusted counsel.
- Advisors can see clearly what you might not.
- Their objectivity can break through Leviathan’s fog.
12. Reconciliation and Restoration
Don’t wait for others. Start the process.
- Apologize.
- Restore what was broken.
- Even if they don’t respond, your victory is complete.
Example: You apologize for a misunderstanding even though the other person still blames you. Your heart is free, and Leviathan loses ground.
You Will Recover All
Leviathan has no real authority. Jesus already defeated him. The enemy might surprise you, but he never surprises God.
Just like David at Ziklag, when everything was lost, God said: “Pursue, for you will recover all” (1 Samuel 30:8).
And he did. Nothing was missing. They recovered all.
Whatever Leviathan has taken from you — peace, influence, favor, relationship, joy — God is restoring it.
Declare it now: I WILL RECOVER ALL.
Use the keys. Shut the door. Stand in truth. And let God do the rest.
“I will give you back what you lost” (Joel 2:25 NLT). “He gives beauty for ashes” (Isaiah 61:3). “Instead of shame… a double portion” (Isaiah 61:7).
Victory is yours. Restoration is now. Amen.
God bless you
