You Have Heard This a Lot: You Have Found Divine Favor. But What Does It Mean and What Should You Expect?
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 2
Favor visits those who are positioned to obey God in humility and love. You attract God’s favor through this heart attitude. Mary, the mother of Jesus, did. But what does favor look like? And what does it mean to be found in favor with God, and what should you really expect?
Have you ever met someone who loves you and noticed the way they greet you because they favor you? Mary was perplexed by the greeting of the Angel Gabriel and the way he greeted her with favor. I believe Gideon was perplexed, too, when the angel visited him and addressed him as a mighty warrior called to save his people. Favor is a foreign language and experience to us at first, but it is always married to a divine purpose greater than ourselves. Favor without serving God’s purposes can become idolatrous and selfish. Favor ought to be Christlike, and Christ is all about serving others. Anything that does not look like Jesus is sin!
Through this Christmas encounter between Mary and the Angel Gabriel, the Holy Spirit unpacks beautiful revelations and mysteries about favor. Allow me to show you the hidden roadmap to what favor truly is.
Mary is favored because of her available YES in her spirit to Jehovah’s plan. The power of the Holy Spirit comes upon her, she bears the Son of God in her womb, and Jesus saves the world. We are all blessed! Praise God.
God favors the humble and the servant-hearted, then entrusts them with His power and anointing to do something supernatural in them that will eventually birth salvation to many. Favor is not the end goal. Salvation is.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, and the joy of salvation in the human soul.
