Healing Your Soul & Removing Landing Strips for the Enemy

Soul prosperity is not an option; it is a must (3 John 1:2). Jesus said, “The enemy comes, but he has nothing in common with me” (John 14:30). That was as He was going to the cross, boldly declaring that in Him there is no sin and that He has fulfilled the Law and righteousness.
The Word of God warns us across many passages not to give the enemy a foothold (Ephesians 4:27), for he roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour if we give him room (1 Peter 5:8). Guarding your heart is vital because from it flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ is both your responsibility and mine (2 Corinthians 10:5).
I once heard a powerful analogy about the heart, sin, and demonic entities. Imagine your heart is a kitchen table, and you leave a few breadcrumbs from a sandwich on it. Small pests are drawn to that table—maybe a few ants and some invisible bacteria. It is dirty, but nothing major, right? Now imagine you leave a large plate of leftovers on the table. Much larger pests will approach: cockroaches, spiders, rats, and the like. The bigger the portion left on the table, and the longer it rots, the harder things become to handle. It turns ugly fast!
Keep your kitchen table clean, so to speak. I mean your heart. Be quick to repent, to forgive, to love, to give, to pray… Wipe the table quickly! Give the enemy nothing to land on.
The Lord wants to deal with your enemies, but He needs you to partner with Him in that.
When was the last time you actively sought the healing of your soul and deliverance in Jesus’ name? When was the last time you allowed the washing of the water of God’s Word over your life (Ephesians 5:26)? Ask the Holy Spirit: Are you leaving an open door to the enemy—perhaps a back door or a tiny crack?
“Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight” (Proverbs 26:2).
Search your heart today not merely out of fear of the enemy, but out of a holy desire to look like Christ, who is our ultimate pursuit. Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7)!
