Speak to the Mountain: Simple Solution to a Big Challenge

What if your BIG problem has a small simple solution to it? Are you facing a challenge that seems immovable? Jesus taught us to speak to the mountain, not just talk about it. Faith isn’t about ignoring reality—it’s about stepping into the authority God has given you. In this article, Tony Francis, will unpack the simple yet powerful key to seeing breakthroughs in your life. Get ready to shift from struggle to victory as you activate God’s supernatural power with your words!
In the Bible, Jesus instructed His disciples—and us—to command the mountain to move and be cast into the sea. He wasn’t just speaking metaphorically. Many believers view this as a purely spiritual principle, but I encourage you to consider it in both the natural and the spiritual realms. With God everything is possible!
Over the years, I’ve observed that believers sometimes use the spiritual realm as a way to avoid faith-driven action. They claim to move mountains in the spirit but have no visible, measurable results in the natural.
Many people spend time talking about their mountains—their problems, obstacles, and challenges—rather than exercising the authority given to them by Christ. While it’s important to share our burdens with friends, family, and spiritual leaders, we must ultimately shift from emotional expression to faith-filled declarations. The bible made it clear that faith, not emotions, pleases God and moves mountains. (See Hebrews 11)
Faith is not about denying facts. Some believers mistakenly think that pretending a problem doesn’t exist is faith. But true faith acknowledges the mountain and then commands it to move in Jesus’ name. If you don’t recognize a mountain, you won’t speak to it—and if you don’t speak to it, it won’t move.
One of the enemy’s strategies is to keep you in denial. He wants to prevent you from exercising your authority because he knows that faith-filled declarations destroy his works. If you’re unaware of your obstacles, you won’t take action against them.
We often think that big problems require big solutions. In the natural world, moving a mountain would require heavy machinery, explosives, and extensive planning. But in God’s kingdom, the solution is often simple. It is an upside-down Kingdom and God would inspire you with easy solutions that don’t make sense so he can take the Glory to show himself strong on your behalf. Like my physical transformation, I am barely doing something about it, and God is doing the BIG thing and people are asking me about it fascinated! I want him to be my strength, so I surrendered mine!!!
Consider David defeating Goliath with just one stone, or Samson using the soft jawbone of a donkey to defeat an entire army. God’s power is revealed in simple acts of faith, not in human strength or strategies. When God led Israel through the wilderness, He sustained them with small, faint manna. Though it seemed insignificant, it nourished a nation for 40 years.
Likewise, Jesus instructed us to simply speak to the mountain. No complicated formulas, no excessive striving—just faith-filled words. The enemy will try to convince you that you need elaborate plans, huge resources, or endless effort to overcome your obstacles. But true faith relies on God’s power, not human effort.
Jesus didn’t tell us to complain about the mountain or analyze it endlessly. He told us to command it. Speaking to the mountain shows authority, while merely speaking about it keeps us in a cycle of worry and defeat.
To activate this principle:
- Discern your mountain. Acknowledge the challenge and recognize it for what it is.
- Speak to it with authority. Use faith-filled declarations based on God’s Word.
- Tell it where to go. Jesus said to command it to be cast into the sea, demonstrating decisive faith.
Elijah is a powerful example of this authority. He didn’t just prophesy in the spirit—he physically stopped the rain for three years. His words controlled the weather, economy, and government of an entire nation. If one prophet under the old covenant had such authority, how much more can we accomplish through the Holy Spirit today? You are God’s solution if you are in faith.
When facing challenges, ask yourself: Am I reasoning through my miracle? Am I relying on my strength instead of trusting in God’s supernatural provision?
Moses didn’t part the Red Sea with an army or advanced technology—he simply lifted his staff, an unexpected solution, as God commanded. It was a simple act that released supernatural power.
When we use God’s methods, He gets the glory.
Imagine what would happen if every believer embraced this truth. We could transform nations, solve impossible problems, and bring God’s kingdom to earth in tangible ways. Some issues, like climate challenges or global crises, seem too big for human solutions. But what if the Church took responsibility and exercised faith to shift these situations and reported that to authorities? “Hey, we can do it for you”.
I encourage you to ask the Lord about your mountain. How does He want you to move it? Speak with faith, trust in His supernatural solutions, and watch as the impossible becomes possible.
