When Life Doesn’t Make Sense, God Still Does
Life can feel confusing. Sometimes, events happen that leave us hurt, frustrated, or questioning everything. Maybe a dream feels delayed, a friendship ends, or circumstances seem out of your control. In these moments, it’s natural to ask, “Why, God?”
The truth is, God doesn’t always give us immediate answers—but He always invites us to trust Him, even when we don’t understand.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Notice it says lean not on your own understanding. Our perspective is limited, but God’s is infinite. He sees the bigger picture and His timing is perfect, even when ours feels delayed.
It’s hard to trust when life doesn’t make sense because we naturally want to control outcomes. We want clarity, solutions, and immediate answers. But God often works behind the scenes—shaping our character, redirecting our paths, or preparing us for something far greater than we imagine.
Focus on His faithfulness. Reflect on God’s past work in your life. Remember victories, answered prayers, and moments when He provided unexpectedly. His faithfulness hasn’t failed before—and it won’t fail now. Surrender your need to understand. Prayer isn’t just asking for answers—it’s giving God control. Tell Him honestly how confused or hurt you feel, then release your need to figure it all out. Hold onto His promises. Meditate on God’s Word. Jeremiah 29:11 says:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Even when life is uncertain, His promises remain true. Take one step at a time. You may not see the full path, but you can take the next step in faith. Trust grows as you act, even without seeing the full picture.
Trusting God doesn’t mean life will always make sense—but it does mean peace is possible. Faith isn’t the absence of questions; it’s holding onto God’s hand while walking through them. When we trust God in the unknown, we discover a peace that surpasses understanding—and a hope that carries us through every storm.
